After traveling to Joplin Missouri, on April 13, 1933 the gang set up housekeeping in a rented bungalow. Clyde, pretended to be Mr. W.J. Callahan, a visiting civil engineer from Minnesota. Things in Joplin were quiet at first, but after a while the locals became suspicious and called the police. They'd been in Joplin for two weeks when two police cars showed up. Bonnie saw them pull up, and ran and told Clyde and Buck. Bucks wife was terrified and ran out the front door screaming. They quickly grabbed their guns and ammo. The gang killed and wounded the policemen and made it out in their car. They picked up Blanche around the corner where she was still running.
