Henry Methvin's parents made a deal with Frank Hamer to erase all the bad their son had done. His family was plotting to betray Bonnie and Clyde in a deal brokered by Frank Hamer. With the help of Henry Methvin's father the was to lure Bonnie and Clyde into an ambush by the Methvin family home near Gibsland Louisiana. On Monday May 21, 1934, Frank Hamer assembled six officers to take place in the ambush, Frank Hamer, Manny Gault, Ted Hinton, Bob Alcon, Henderson Jordan, and Prentiss Oakly. They waited two days and two nights. Just before daybreak on Wednesday May 23, 1934, the cops planted Methvin's fathers truck so Clyde would slow down because he would recognize it. Sure enough at 9:15 a.m the couple stopped by the car and the police started shooting. There were about 167 shots fired at the couple and the police found that the back of Clyde's head exploded and part of Bonnie's hand was shot-off.
Both of the bodies were taken to Dallas and put on public view. Large crowds gathered to see the famous couple. Bonnie wanted to be buried with Clyde, but the couples families had them buried in separate cemeteries.
